With over 30 years of Investment Management experience, John Buckingham’s opinion is widely sought; he is often featured in Barron’s, The Wall Street Journal and Forbes, and frequently contributes to CNBC, Bloomberg and Fox Business News. John has been with AFAM since 1987 and was named Chief Investment Officer in 1990, at title he holds to this day. In his early years at AFAM Capital, he worked alongside the founder of the firm and his mentor, the late Al Frank. In addition to being CIO, John is the Editor of the top-ranked investment newsletter, The Prudent Speculator. John graduated magna cum laude from the University of Southern California with a bachelor’s degree in computer science and a minor in business administration. John is married and enjoys visiting his daughter in England.
Jason Clark has a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of West Florida. Prior employers were A.G. Edwards, Edward Jones and the United States Navy. He has 15 years of industry experience as equity research analyst, fixed income trader and portfolio manager. Jason is a CFA charterholder. Jason is married with two children and spends his free time coaching high school basketball and volunteering with his family in the community.
Senior Research Analyst
Chris earned his bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Southern California. As a member of the research team, Chris Quigley conducts fundamental research and analysis. He is responsible for generating new investment ideas and maintains company, industry and macroeconomic models. Additionally, he is a regular contributor to the firm’s market commentary and newsletter. Chris joined AFAM Capital in August of 2011. Chris is married and enjoys biking, traveling and flying.
Chris (CT) Taylor
Director of Business Development
Chris Taylor serves as the Sales Director for newsletter subscriptions. He is responsible for renewing existing customers and teaching prospective subscribers about The Prudent Speculator investment philosophy. His focus is always on customer satisfaction, so he is constantly examining ways to improve the website and the subscriber experience. Chris graduated with a Bachelors degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) from The Ohio State University. His background includes landscape architecture, hospitality, and customer relations.
Vice President, Private Client Business Director
Chris Creed, CFP®, Vice President, Private Client Business Development Director, joined AFAM Capital in July 2013. Having twenty one years of experience in both retail brokerage, as well as asset management, Mr. Creed brings a unique perspective to the role. For the seven years prior to joining AFAM, he was Regional VP, Southeast for Fisher Investments Private Client Group.He was the owner of a successful independent wealth management practice, Creed Capital Management (2003-2006), through Wachovia Securities Financial Network, which he later sold to another advisory firm. From 1994 to 2003, Mr. Creed was an investment representative with Edward Jones, where he also held roles in both the hiring and training of new advisors. He holds a B.A. in Marketing from Southeastern Louisiana University.
Mr. Eric Hare has been with AFAM Capital since 2006 and over the years he has held several key roles in the organization. Eric started his tenure with the firm working as a member of the investment team. Subsequently, he moved to the business side and worked his way up to Chief Operating Officer. He has played an important part in the advancements and developments of our company. For example, he created the current work-flow processes that serve as the basic structure for our entire firm; built the marketing, operations, and technology groups; collaborated in launching new products such as mutual funds and SMAs; managed and grew the private client division; and has been instrumental in expanding the reach of The Prudent Speculator, our investment newsletter that has been around since 1977. Eric has a holistic view of the investment management business which, together with his proven versatility, has allowed him to have a significant impact as the President of AFAM Capital. Since 2017, Eric has been a member of the Austin chapter of Vistage, a 60-year old company dedicated to executive coaching and developing great leaders.
As our organization continues to evolve, Eric will add and develop new talent, and strengthen our relations with strategic partners, clients, and vendors. In addition, it is AFAM’s desire to maintain our involvement with the community and Eric leads the company’s philanthropic efforts. Currently, he oversees the company’s donations program and is part of the Big Brother & Big Sisters of Central Texas.
